Aven Colony Anouncement

Team 17 has partnered with Mothership Entertainment to announce Aven Colony, a city simulator like game that takes place on a hostile alien planet. The trailer looks neat, take a look:

Here is what the company has to say:

Award-winning veteran games developer and international games label Team17 has today announced its partnership with Texas-based independent developer Mothership Entertainment to publish the sci-fi city-building and management sim, Aven Colony, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Aven Colony has been in development since 2013 by Austin, Texas-based Mothership Entertainment, an independent development studio formed by industry veterans whose combined game credits include Fable 2, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Star Wars: The Old Republic, City Conquest, MechWarrior 4: Vengeance, Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna, and more.

Set on Aven Prime, an alien world of deserts, tundras and wetlands light-years from Earth, Aven Colony is a rich simulation of an extra-terrestrial colony. Build, customise and maintain your settlement, manage your resources, encounter a variety of alien life forms and look after your citizens – all while dealing with the challenges of life in an entirely new solar system. Will your plucky settlers survive and prosper on this exotic alien world, and uncover its many secrets?

Featuring a dedicated mission objective system which gradually introduces colony management during the campaign mode, Aven Colony welcomes and enables both novice and experienced players alike to acclimatise to life on Aven Prime. Advance from Colony Governor through the ranks to achieve the prestigious title of Expedition President. There’s also an in-depth sandbox mode with a variety of unique maps to choose from and a full suite of options to customize the game experience.

Aven Colony is currently available in beta form via itch.io, and will launch on PC on both Steam and itch.io. This new partnership will see development extend to both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms, with Team17’s experienced multiplatform internal development studio supporting Mothership in bringing the game to a wider audience worldwide.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Team17 and bring Aven Colony to PS4 and Xbox One,” said Paul Tozour, founder of Mothership Entertainment. “Team17 shares our values and our passion for serving the customer. The itch.io beta has helped our tiny 4-person team engage with the community and grow the game significantly as we build toward some big new features we plan to unveil in the coming months. The Team17 partnership will help us grow that community even further and allow us to serve console customers in a way that we could never have done alone.”

Debbie Bestwick, MBE, CEO of Team17 added, “The talented team at Mothership Entertainment have been incredibly focused on delivering a solid, fun and unique city-building experience with Aven Colony. As we continue our global expansion, we’ve spent a lot of time looking for the right partners and they’re definitely the right fit so we’re delighted that they are the second US team to join Team17’s games label. We’re excited to work with them and contribute our wealth of expertise in bringing the game to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as Mothership Entertainment have created such a fantastic game that deserves to be shared far and wide.” The Aven Colony beta is currently available from itch.io, with the complete Aven Colony experience set to launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in Q2 2017.

TL;DR: new city simulator type game set on alien planet, coming to PC,PS4, and XBO

Konosuba Returns!

If you didn’t know it already, Konosuba has returned for a second season as Konosuba 2 ,much to my excitement! It picks up right from where season 1 left off, Kazuma and the gang saved their town but now he is suspected of working for the Devil King due to his actions in the first season. Long story short and spoiler free, Kazuma and his group must now pay off a lot of debt and basically start over in terms of gathering riches.

So far there are 3 episodes in and can be watched on Crunchyroll or if you have VRV and the lunch combo subscription, you can watch it there too. I’m enjoying it so far and look forward to their adventures, how about you? are you watching? let us know!

Prey Release Date and New Trailer

Today Bethesda announced Prey’s release date along with sharing a new trailer! If you had not heard what Prey is, its a re-imagining of the 2006 game of the same title, unfortunately I didn’t play that one but I am interested in this one. Since the new Prey isn’t coming out until May 5th we all have time to check out the old game too, which I am considering.prey_cover_art

Along with the release date it was announced that pre-orders will include the “Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack,” which contains the Margrave Shotgun and ammo plans, two medkits, three Transtar Neuromods, one recycler shielding chipset, and starter fabrication materials. I don’t know what most of that does, but it sounds like stuff that gives you a leg up right out of the gate. Personally I probably won’t pre order, pre ordering can be an evil practice.

Anyway check out the new trailer below, and check out the trailer to the original Prey below the new one. Tell us what you think! are you going to buy and play?

Oldie, wow to the difference! we have come a long way in graphics

More Nintendo Switch News!!

Yesterday night Nintendo showed us what they have in store for the Nintendo Switch, and since then there has been more news, some of which people really dislike.

First off, Nintendo’s online service as we found out, is not free it will be free to start but eventually we will have to pay for it. Along with this Nintendo is offering a free game to download every month, but unlike PS and Xbox, they aren’t letting you keep it its only free for that month. Many people dislike this, myself included, but maybe we shouldn’t be mad, maybe we are being spoiled by the likes of Sony and Microsoft. Personally in the end I don’t care, I probably won’t be using the Switch a ton if I buy it.

Second piece of news is the price and look of the Switch games, we know they will be cartridges and now we know they are going to be the standard cost that we are used to, $60. I think the cases look pretty neat, as in not cluttered and green/blue. We aren’t here for the cases though so who cares?

Anyway what are your guys thoughts on the Switch? are you going to be an early adopter or wait a few months after release? Personally I’m on the fence, we will see in a few months how I feel. Let us know in the comments your thoughts!

Top Anime of 2016

2016 is just about over if not over already when you’re reading this, lets take a look back and see what Anime I considered top of 2016. This is of course all based on opinion, your list might be different than mine or anyone else’s.

I’ll start off with my personal favorite, a very niche anime due to the series its based off of, I’m talking of course about…

danganronpa-3-eohpa-pv

Danganronpa 3

The only way to have enjoyed this anime is if you played the 2 games leading up to this anime, if you start watching it without any knowledge of the games then you will have no idea what is happening and you will ruin the “twists” that happen in the game. As a series end it was acceptable, it made me feel despair as it intended but I do think some characters needed a little more development before being killed off. Regardless, Danganronpa 3 was in the top 3 favorites of mine in 2016.

Re:Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu

Re: Zero is an anime I wrote a little review for go check it out here. Anyway though, even though it now feels like it has a slow start, it still sucked me in until I watched the last episode available. I am definitely waiting in anticipation for more episodes to come out. If not, I’ll settle for reading the manga.

The Disastrous life of Saiki K.

The Disastrous life of Saiki K. is one of the funniest anime I have seen in a while. Saiki has psychic powers and is never surprised because he can read minds, except he can’t read the minds of anyone really dumb, like his self proclaimed best buddy Nendo. It’s a great watch. I’ll give more info on an NCG Recommends piece.

Kono Subarashii Sekai Ni Syukufuku Wo!

Konosuba is another Anime we recommended before Here. Every episode was hilarious and the story sucked me in. Go watch it and then join me in waiting for season 2.

Berserk (2016)

One more that we recommended before! I personally loved watching this and could hardly wait for the following weeks episode. I certainly hope it constitutes until it catches up to the Manga, but also I don’t want it to because it goes on hiatus a lot and that makes me sad.

Which series had you hooked in 2016? Let us know in the comments?
