Pokemon Sun/Moon Alola Islands

Regions and Trials

What we already know about the Alola Islands consists of four islands. It has Pokemon native to the region as well as Pokemon that have adapted to the different ecologies the islands offer.

In Pokemon Sun/Moon you will start your journey by accepting the Island Challenge: an adventurous right where you must travel to the four islands to help you become a great Pokemon trainer.  In order to pass the Island Challenge, trainers much overcome a variety of trials on each island.  Trials include battling Pokemon, finding items, completing tests of knowledge, and more!

At the end of each trial, you face off against a Totem Pokemon that is larger than others in it’s species and enveloped in a special aura.  In battle, they summon Pokemon to join them and become even stronger.

The Grand Trial, the final trial of each island, is a face-off against the Kahuna of the island.  Winning the trial earns you public recognition and the next island opens, where more challenges, Totem Pokemon, and Grand Trials await!

Pokemon Sun/Moon: Z-Moves

A new element to Pokemon battle has been introduced as Z-Moves.  A Z-Move is a powerful move that can only be used once during battle.  Trainer and Pokemon can release their full power together, but only when their wishes resonate with each other.  Every Pokemon will have a Z-Move.

In order to activate the Z-Move, your trainer must have: A Z-Ring and a Z-Crystal.  The Z-Ring is worn on the trainers arm and Z-Crystals are set into it.  If the Pokemon has the same crystals as the trainer, trainer and Pokemon will “resonate”

Speaking of Z-Ring, participating retailers will have an actual Z-Ring for sale.  When you use a Z-Move in Pokemon Sun/Moon the Z-Ring lights up, vibrates, and plays sounds along with the game!

Pokemon Sun and Moon: Pokemon we will find on the Alolan Islands

Meet the Alolan version of these Pokemon.  They have settled onto the Alolan Islands and live there like Native Pokemon!

Unlike other Exeggutor, the Alolan Exeggutor has a fourth head—on its tail! This fourth head controls the tail independently and can take on opponents to the rear that can’t be reached by the main heads’ attacks.

It is said that Vulpix came to the Alola region together with humans, but the Fox Pokémon moved to the snowy mountain peaks to avoid the normal habitats of other Pokémon, and thus it ended up taking on this form.

Alolan Ninetales is able to produce ice crystals from the fur that covers its body. It can use these ice crystals to block attacks, or it can form balls of ice, which it fires like bullets at opponents. These ice missiles have enough power to pulverize rock.

A-Sandshrew_RGB_300dpiName: Alolan Sandshrew
Type: Ice/Steel
Sandshrew have historically lived in desert areas, but the frequent eruptions of nearby volcanoes drove the them to abandon the desert and migrate to snowy mountains where they took on this form.

The Alolan Sandshrew of the snowy mountains evolve into Alolan Sandslash with spiny backs that are covered in ice. Alolan Sandslash hide themselves in the snow when strong enemies appear, leaving only their needles exposed and ready for business.

New Pokemon from Pokemon Sun and Moon

Name: Oricorio
Oricorio changes its form by sipping the nectar of certain flowers. Since it has four different forms—the same as the number of islands in Alola—it would seem that different Oricorio live on each of the islands.

Lurantis_RGB_300dpiName: Lurantis

Lurantis draws opponents near to itself with its flowerlike appearance and aroma—and then it takes them down. It’s said to be the most gorgeous of all Grass-type Pokémon, due to its brilliant coloration and elegant moves.
Mudbray_RGB_300dpiName: Mudbray

Mudbray could once be found all over the world, but it   became endangered and is now a protected species. It’s said that the Alola region is the only place in the world where Mudbray can still be found in the wild.

Pokemon Go Panel News

San-Diego Comic con is now over but we can all still revel in the news that has come out of it. Like Pokemon Go news!

Niantic has released the final designs for the team leaders of Mystic, Valor and Instinct. Blanche, Candela, and Spark…..really? Spark? is it ’cause the team color is yellow and we associate it with Zapdos and electric type? Real original…

I like their designs, they really match with the design that was given to prof-SPARK! WHAT WHERE YOU THIN-…sorry sorry. They do match professor Willows design.

Here are some bullet points of what was discussed at the panel

  • The legendary birds are tied to teams in some way.
  • We can’t expect Legendaries until after the game has been released in all regions.
  • There are Easter Eggs that nobody has found yet.
  • Pokemon Centers are coming
  • There will be more functionality added to gyms.
  • They know about the three step glitch but no word on when it will be fixed.
  • Niantic says the game is at about 10% of what they want it to be

Only 10%, huh? I can imagine why, what with missing features so far like trading and trainer Pokemon battles. I’m excited for Pokemon Go’s future.
