About

Komaru Naegi, little sister to Makoto Naegi, has been imprisoned inside a mysterious apartment for over a year. One day, she is rescued by Byakuya Togami of Future Foundation, but the rescue is derailed by a sudden attack of hundreds of Monokumas. Komaru soon discovers that the city has been taken over by a group of children calling themselves the Warriors of Hope. Their leader, Monaca, declares that the city will be the site of a “children’s paradise,” and to accomplish this, all the adults will be exterminated. Komaru teams up with Toko Fukawa to try to survive the rampaging Monokumas, escape the crafty Monokuma Kids, and uncover the secrets of the city.

Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories Season 4!

Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories is a horror anime series animated in 5 minute shorts.  Each short is based on a tale from Japanese urban legends or myths.  What makes this series stand out is the unique animation style drawn to mimic Kamishibai style of story telling; street story telling using drawn scrolls/boards and simple theatrics. It was really popular in the 1930’s.  This one of those series where you gather your friends together, sit in a dark room, and see who screams first.

What I enjoy the most about Yamishibai is the pacing and flow of the stories.   The lack of in-depth animation and the simplicity of the dialogue create some wonderful moments you will be thinking about before you turn out the lights. With each season, we experience a different director’s take on Hiromu Kumamoto’s stories. Each season carries its own pace, tone, and method of story telling -pretty darn close to the original stylistic roots of Kamishibai!

Moving into to season 4, another style change is being implemented.  So far, only the first three episodes have been released on Crunchyroll.  What viewers will notice is that the stories have gone back to the roots of season 1, however, the episodes are heavily narrated; the story is told rather than shown through the animation and short dialogue.  So far, I really enjoy the stories of season 4 since it traces back to the roots of season 1. I haven’t picked up on a theme quite yet (Season 3 was all about monsters), but I’ll just have to wait until a few more episodes are released.

I have a lot of hope for the rest of the season.  Keep an eye out for a review on the first three episodes (coming soon)!  Have you had a chance to watch this series? What do you think of Season 4 for far? Let me know in the comments.

More Nintendo Switch News!!

Yesterday night Nintendo showed us what they have in store for the Nintendo Switch, and since then there has been more news, some of which people really dislike.

First off, Nintendo’s online service as we found out, is not free it will be free to start but eventually we will have to pay for it. Along with this Nintendo is offering a free game to download every month, but unlike PS and Xbox, they aren’t letting you keep it its only free for that month. Many people dislike this, myself included, but maybe we shouldn’t be mad, maybe we are being spoiled by the likes of Sony and Microsoft. Personally in the end I don’t care, I probably won’t be using the Switch a ton if I buy it.

Second piece of news is the price and look of the Switch games, we know they will be cartridges and now we know they are going to be the standard cost that we are used to, $60. I think the cases look pretty neat, as in not cluttered and green/blue. We aren’t here for the cases though so who cares?

Anyway what are your guys thoughts on the Switch? are you going to be an early adopter or wait a few months after release? Personally I’m on the fence, we will see in a few months how I feel. Let us know in the comments your thoughts!

The game is currently available on Steam, PS4, and PS Vita.  It’s strange to see it soon available for Nintendo?  What are your thoughts on games getting ported to the Switch? Let me know in the comments!
