The Banner Saga 2 Releases on Xbox One

The Banner Saga 2 has officially launched on Xbox One and is included in the Games with Gold program. As a bonus, Xbox One gamers will all get an exclusive passive ability boost, the Tome of X, a book of catalogued pastimes, competition, and puzzles. This item will be automatically unlocked in the game and can be equipped when a player’s character reaches the required level.

The Banner Saga for Xbox One launched earlier this year in April and was the first release of a planned three part saga.  This story driven tactical RPG puts players in some tough situations throughout their epic journey and forces them to make some very hard and sometimes devastating decisions.  For those gamers that played the first Banner Saga game, these choices will carry over into The Banner Saga 2. However, gamers new to the series can jump right into The Banner Saga 2 without being penalized for not playing the first game and will be given some basic character options at the start of the game with which they can start their journey.

As previously announced, The Banner Saga 2 will launch next week on July 5th. PlayStation®Plus members will be able to get 10% off The Banner Saga 2 and 30% off the The Banner Saga 1 and 2 complete pack. The Banner Saga 2 released in April this year on PC and Mac.

Review: The Magic Circle (Xbox One)

This will leave an impression

Originally released back in July of 2015, I had never heard of The Magic Circle, so as I began playing it I was unsure of what I was getting myself into. It looked like it was a black and white game and it began as your village was being attacked, things quickly took a turn for the weird for me. I went to an un-burned hut and got a pop up box stating the game wasn’t finished!

Without spoiling too much, I met the “creators” they took my weapon almost got me killed and then deleted me. Then it was over, back at the title screen a mysterious voice contacted me and told me we were going to finish the game. That’s when the game truly began.

The game is of the puzzle genre, editing your enemies and world to solve said puzzles. I enjoyed trying to figure these out because they were unconventional. For example, at the beginning of the  game I found a fireproof rock and took its fireproofing powers away, and later I found a volcano, so I gave my fireproofing to an ally and voila he couldn’t die in lava.

The graphics of the game are nothing all that great to look at, but that’s the style it was made to be, an unfinished game has no color, apparently. The only color we see are from auras created by your character and some enemies. There are other parts of the game that are retro styled and these also have color, they have a very 64 bit era look to them, I think they are neat.pua4a042cf4fd6bfb47701cbc8a1653ada-1461599353-5085844-screenshot-original

Overwatch gets Competetive (Play)

Battle on!

Competitive Overwatch players now have a new mode: Competitive Play.  It is available now on PC and is coming soon to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Competitive Play is designed to put your skills to the test and offers a more serious experience compared to Quick Play or Weekly Brawl. But there’s a catch: you do no unlock Competitive Play until you reach level 25.

To unlock  Competitive Play players must complete 10 placement matches in order to obtain an initial skill rating (ranked between 1-100).   The higher the value, the greater the skill.  You can see your skill rating at the beginning of every match and as you compete your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss.  Ratings will include your own performance and the skill of the other players in the match.

Competitive Play will have four seasons that last two and a half months.  At the end of that time period stats and skill ratings will reset. A two-week off-season will follow and then a new season will start again.  Keep an eye out, because Summer 2016 will be coming soon!

Competitive Play not only allows you to show off your skills, players also earn rewards that will only be available through Competitive Play.  At the end of the season, anyone who has completed the 10 placement matches will receive a special spray, and player icon designed specially for that season.  Winning matches will also earn you Competitive Points that can be exchanged for Golden Weapons for your heroes.
