Dreamhack: Heroes of the Storm expert mode

Team work is the true winner

As a fan of Heroes of the storm, it never ceases to amaze me how much different a sponsored team can play compared to a casual player like myself. I had the pleasure of watching quite a few games played by expert players at DreamHack Austin 2016 and it has given me ideas about how to change my play style as a solo player.

The fact that the teams that play as a team is the foundation of going pro; you and your team have a common goal and strategy. When I play as a solo player I have the same goal as the rest of the team but we don’t have the same cohesion. Everyone tends to do whatever they want to do and only help when they are playing an assassin hero. The expert teams stay as a team from start to finish, if anyone is caught out of place it isn’t because they were alone, its because a play went wrong.

Whether it be Heroes of the Storm or another MOBA the reasons expert teams are better than solo players is because of team work. Us solo players have to raise our skill level much higher compared to a team to try and compensate for a lower skill player we may end up with. But really, it doesn’t matter if you’re solo or a team player, there are still losses to face and championships to win.
